We previously featured the incredible work of Red Skies Mourning, the brainchild of talented artist Chris Aleshire, so when we heard that Chris was back with a new project – Red Skies Dawning, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen to his new single, Shipwrecked, and share our experience!
Establishing the mood with a dynamic nu-metal adjacent guitar soundscape with high octane drums and dynamics that could only compare to some of the most iconic bands from the 2000s like System of a Down or Linkin Park, Red Skies Dawning opens Shipwrecked a fierce and assertive energy!
In essence, the song about loss, resilience and personal transformation. It uses the metaphor of being stranded at sea after a shipwreck, and explores notions of emotional turmoil that might come from personal or creative collapse.
Beyond this there is hope in the idea of rebuilding of oneself from this wreckage. The track captures the tension between vulnerability and strength with its ebbs and flows, the screamo moments intertwined with the more melodic vibes – a universal story of endurance and rebirth at its finest.

The track is perfect for a gym pump, a long drive, and let’s be real – a stadium! The production is magnificent and so are the instrumental performances. The track is definitely also festival ready – and deserves a massive platform like Leeds, Reading or Download.
With this project, Chris has partnered with producer Chris Dawson and Jimmie Beatie to reimagine earlier compositions. The band’s lineup features Laulis, Trujillo, and Carpenter, and it is clear that all of the contributors are geniuses in their own right.
We have added Shipwrecked to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Red Skies Mourning, and anticipate future releases from Red Skies Dawning!
