Establishing the mood with a serene jazz-soul hybrid energy, CroonerEd opens Amazing, Awful, Ordinary Life with wisdom as he sings, “Life is amazing, then awful, then amazing again, in between, it’s ordinary and a routine, that’s our amazing, awful, ordinary life… Sun rise beams, your heart sings, everything’s good, dreams take flight, it all feels right, you can do anything…”
The opus expands with lyrical ebbs and flows as CroonerEd depicts the highs and lows of our lived experience. Understanding that life is not all one dimensional is an important and philosophical key to maintaining a level of sanity on this planet.
We deeply connect with the manner in which CroonerEd shares his conscious wisdom. He depicts the highs with poetic prowess and the lows with references to shadows, heartaches, weather changes, flowing tears and how we can lose our way.
The balance comes from the sound design of the track which maintains a sense of ascetic balance, this feels intentional. A great way to manage one’s mental health is to avoid getting too manic from the highs, and ergo too depressed from the lows.

This mindset is what CroonerEd manifests with Amazing, Awful, Ordinary Life. We learn that the song is in fact inspired by the words of international bestselling author, L.R. Knost, intended to remind us to “breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and be thankful for the ordinary.”
As for the instrumentation, we are in awe – the composition is masterful, showcasing intricacy, a pristine mix and performances that are cinematic and alluring. Written and performed by Eddie Thompson (a.k.a. CroonerEd), this song carries a melody and rhythm full of warmth and authenticity. Adding to it is Brazilian saxophonist Gilberto Pereira, whose genius skillset further brings the music to life.
Naturally, we have added Amazing, Awful, Ordinary Life to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream CroonerEd‘s growing discography, including Seize Today, What a Ride, and Why Does Everything Hurt?.
