Establishing the mood with a psychedelic wood blocks, a dimensional bassline and textured drums, expanding with cerebral melodies, DaPlazz open Nebulous with intricacy, manifesting a cohesive tapestry of sound.
The opus evolves with poetic prowess and a captivating vocal performance sharing conscious prose, “Let’s get to action, louder than words, as you heard, a million times before…”. There is a prophetic nature of the message of Nebulous. It is cosmic in sound, and mind-opening in intention.
We connect with the nods to 90s trip-hop – fans of Morcheeba and Portishead would be able to vibe with what DaPlazz is creating. The vocal harmonies are sublime, and the journey that we are taken on feels profound.
The fusion of organic and electronica really shines through in the instrumental segments as we are invites to “get Nebulous“. There is also a cinematic allure to the piece, which would be perfect fora more progressive TV show sync deal – such as an episode of Euphoria on HBO, but equally, we could imagine this being performed at The Bronze in the upcoming Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot.

We learn that EDM creatives Darren Rook (UK, ProjectP) and Plasma Baby (Australia, Marie-Louise Anastas) have been collaborating on songs since 2022, leading to the birth of DaPlazz in mid-2024. Darren, raised on classical piano before moving to guitar, synth, and eventually recording and production, draws influence from The Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, Propellerheads, and Hermitude. Plasma Baby, meanwhile, crafts euphoric, trippy lyrics inspired by Sofi Tukker, Fontaines D.C., Blur, and Gorillaz.
We love the output, and have added Nebulous to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of DaPlazz, including 29 Rays of Sunshine, and their 2024 EP, Get Hooked.
