Drawing us in with a cerebral bass synth and spoken word intro with an assertive and mantra-esque commentary on one’s “will”, Trevour Amunga opens Rollin with dimensionality, high bells, psychedelic textures and an intentional depth.
We appreciate the evolution of the track – the star’s poetic prowess, the descriptive universe that he creates, and his intelligent constructs, intertwined with an almost tribal, conscious, and surrealist mood to bring to life his ancestral energy, connection with Source, and empowering notions.
His timbre switch ups are dynamic, his high octane flow is a joy to experience, and the echoing finale has us tripping out! Speaking on Rollin, Trevour Amunga confesses, “This song is about me acknowledging my talent and an affirmation of sorts that my “will” will get me where I need to be. To make music is to be free, and thats a feeling I try to express beyond just rhyming and rapping, and honestly, I just felt very very free when working on this song, which is why it doesn’t follow your typical song structure.”
The LA-based star adds, “I can’t say the song is different because it was intended to be, it’s different because it was created from a place of “freedom.” Beyond just money, Im an artist because I feel very free whenever im creating. With this song, I just wanted to convey what that freedom is to me beyond just rapping and rhyming.”

It is clear that Trevour isn’t concerned with fitting into predictable formulas. Instead, he leans into an approach that thrives on risk, vulnerability, and freedom. Recorded in his apartment, the song carries deep intimacy and authenticity, which we connect with!
The contributions of producer SXINT and engineer Darrius Porter shouldn’t be overlooked either. The beat provides a fluid yet textured backdrop, never overshadowing Trevour’s performance but giving it room to stretch and evolve.
We love the self-realized and empowering nature of the track, and could imagine this in a live setting, and also garnering a multitude of sync deals for a more avant-garde film or cerebral TV show.
We have added Rollin to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream Trevour Amunga‘s growing discography, including his EP, Vespa, Sweet Touch, and his profound ode to the resilience of Lionel Messi, 09 MESSI!
