We previously featured Proxevita’s Heart 2 Heart, which served as a sonic journey of interconnectedness for a harmonious future, so when we heard that Proxevita was back with Shine Like A Star (stylised as Shine like a star), we were curious to say the least and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience!
Drawing us in with dimensional pads with reversed nuances serving as a trippy baseline and sublime astral frequencies with atmospheric vocal ad libs, Proxevita opens Shine Like A Star with cinematic allure.
Immediately, we are inclined to think of the synch deals that the piece could manifest – perhaps a scene from the upcoming season of HBO’s Euphoria or the finale of an episode of Netflix’s Elite. The production is cosmic, reminding us of early Grimes with a nod to Björk. We appreciate the vocal design switch ups and the notion of the heartbeat that manifests throughout the composition.
We deeply connect with the high emotional quotient that comes to life with the syncopated notions and the celestial strings arrangement. The track blends dream pop, alt-electronic, and future grunge.

As with all of the intentional artist’s creations, Shine Like A Star carries an uplifting message of resilience and hope. We learnt that the track was born from a period of transformation, and is designed to speak to those who’ve felt dimmed but chose to rise. The airy vocals, rich synths, and steady rhythm invite us to reconnect with our inner light.
Known for merging art, ecology, and activism, Proxevita continues to push boundaries. They’ve performed at major events like SXSW London, Earth Fest, and COP28. The band has also shared stages with artists like Imogen Heap and appeared at climate-focused festivals worldwide. Shine Like A Star serves as a preview of their upcoming climate opera, Corazón de la Selva, set for UN COP30 in Brazil.
Naturally, we have added Shine Like A Star to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY and TIMELESS playlists, whilst we continue to stream the cohesive, growing discography of Proxevita, and anticipate future releases!
