Drawing us in with a dimensional rock soundscape with astral guitar tones and textured drums, Fiona Amaka opens No Daylight with a high octane vibe and vintage-tinged vocals as she shares a poignant message with the lyrics, “You pledged your allegiance, you wrapped it up with my gut strings, while I was thinking all the best, I was thinking all the best of you, now all I need you to know is sometimes you can’t have it both ways…”
In essence, No Daylight is about betrayal and disillusionment. Fiona sings from the perspective of someone who trusted deeply but was used and hurt in return. She realizes how her muse chose a dark, destructive path and viably clung to someone who didn’t truly care. The chorus is a wake-up call reminding them that they can’t have everything both ways.
The intentional track serves up a mix of sorrow, clarity, and letting go. It’s cathartic, empowering and feels very authentic. As for the soundscape, it manifests classic rock perfection with incredible instrumentation and Fiona’s enigmatic and hypnotic energy as she shares a message of resilience.
Speaking on the production release, the talented songstress confesses, “I originally released No Daylight in January 2025, and this is a remix and re-release of the song, with guitars and production handled by Andy Zanini and additional mixing by Stefan Antoinette.”

Fiona elaborates, “I think this version of the song retains the raw emotion and energy of the original version. We absolutely love the “melancholic banger”, but more to the point, we really vibe with the overarching brand of what Fiona Amaka stands for.
The authentic resonance of her as an artist is truly tangible. She writes from her soul and delivers every single time. There is no one quite like her, and it is great to hear that she will be performing with her band at the upcoming Camden Weekender Festival on 30 August! She says, “We’ve had a busy half year gigging around London and we’ve loved every minute of it.”
Naturally, we have added No Daylight to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Fiona Amaka‘s growing discography, and anticipate future releases from the star, including Cowards and Shadows, set for release on the upcoming Lion’s Gate Portal!
