Establishing the mood with a subversive, cerebral soundscape with dark wave, industrial adjacency, building with a dimensional riser into a pulsating beat, Enemy Slain opens React with an IDM meets techno hybrid vibe, metallic in energy – and needless to say, we are in awe.
The opus evolves with intricacy, drama and a cinematic allure to take us on a hard-hitting journey through space and time. There is no doubt that React would be perfect for a variety of synch deals – a sequel to Interstellar, or even The Martian.
We appreciate the dynamism that manifests with Enemy Slain‘s production. The boundless ebbs and flows and sonic futurism that comes to life flawlessly with the piece. Enemy Slain, also known as artist Piotr Jagiełka, confesses, “What drives me is the passion for the sound making, the unlimited power of technology, and new ways to tackle sound design.” He continues, “I feel very strong about this release because I’m very happy with the mysterious dark atmospheres it evokes and the syncopated rhythms which add to the overwhelming nature of the track.”

With reference to his production process, Enemy Slain adds, “The creation of my music is always dictated by sonic explorations – what really clicks with me. Usually, it’s the sound design that inspires me and dictates the rest. I was messing around with bass sounds on Ableton’s Operator, then resampled, chopped, and ran them through a granulator – that’s what built the entire structure of React.”
We learn that React is a fully self-produced track recorded in Piotr‘s bedroom. It highlights his meticulous DIY approach to music-making and draws heavily from the concept of sonic brutalism, blending gritty industrial textures with dark ambient atmospheres.
Enemy Slain cites Rezz, Lorn, and Arca, as sonic influences, which we can feel come through with React, although there is no doubt that Piotr Jagiełka is manifesting a universe unto his own. Naturally, we have added React to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream Enemy Slain‘s wider discography, including Infinite, and Vessel.
