Establishing the mood with an intimate guitar soundscape with astral toms and an emotive, immersive strings performance, Michellar opens Aunque Sea Por Una Noche (If It’s Only For One Night) featuring Jiji Picazo with a high emotional and spiritual quotient.
The piece feels universal, almost like ayahuasca integration music, inviting us to connect with the cosmos on a conscious level. The prose feels like it could be both romantic and self-realized, inviting us to connect with a lover, but also the universe.
The instrumental design is transcendental, as Jiji sings, “Ama me esta noche…”, craving love and connection. The guitar performances are nothing short of sublime. The single marks a powerful artistic evolution for Michellar, and serves as her first-ever Spanish-language track.
Once again, the song was recorded at the Women’s Audio Mission in San Francisco. There is no doubt that the release showcases Michellar’s dedication to musical storytelling and her desire to reflect her conscious and multicultural identity. “It is my very first Spanish song and I hope it won’t be the last,” she shares, hinting at future ventures that may include Filipino-language songs as well.
Michellar collaborated with vocalist Jiji Picazo and producer Lloyd Miller, crafting the track with inspiration from classic Latin ballads like Besame Mucho. “I remember my mother and dad singing that song to us as little kids,” the star recalls. “The melody just really grabbed me from a very early age.”
The song is a heartfelt tribute to cultural memory and personal history. Michellar explains, “The story behind this release is about that one night… when someone makes you feel loved, and that love sustains you.” She hopes the song resonates with those who’ve experienced love’s brief yet powerful glow. With plans to continue releasing music through the year and a live show potentially in the works, Michellar affirms, “Home is where the heart is. My heart leads me to songs with the home I intuitively feel very close to me.”
