We previously featured VANNGO as he manifested healing, empowerment and peace for his home city in We’ll Rise LA!, so when we heard that the conscious artist was back with Soaked to the Soul, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Establishing the mood with a strummed acoustic guitar soundscape, VANNGO opens Soaked to the Soul with intimacy and situational depth as he shares the lyrics, “Left that house and didn’t leave a note, just a half lit smoke and my worn out coat, had a past too loud and a future unknown, so I walked through the storm alone…”
Soaked to the Soul is about leaving one’s painful past behind. VANNGO walks away from everything, carrying only memories and a sense of loss. He is alone, unsure of the future, but determined to keep moving.
In the middle of this struggle, the star finds a notion of cathartic release. Dancing in the rain becomes his symbol of freedom and rebirth. He sings, “I came alive when the heavens cried…” – this powerful visual shows how the storm doesn’t break him, it saves him. VANNGO embraces the chaos, letting go of shame and regret.
Soaked to the Soul serves as a quiet anthem of survival. The message? Life might hurt, but there’s power in choosing how to face it. VANNGO chooses strength, hope, and fire. And through it all, he keeps dancing in the rain.
Now as far as the spiritual quotient of this song goes, it is high. There is something very powerful about singing in the rain, from the original Gene Kelly narrative to VANNGO‘s soulful reprise, the power of water has long existed to wash away our sins, create harmony and peace within the body, and remind us that our bodies are also 60% water!
This scientific fact helps explain how important it is for us to connect with the liquid element in order to feel at one with the universe. Needless to say, this is an intrinsic message that is showcased with VANNGO‘s opus.
Speaking on the release, VANNGO confesses, “I wasn’t trying to write something redemptive. This one came from that space between grief and clarity. The part no one wants to talk about. The part you live through alone.”
Naturally, we love what VANNGO is creating, and have added the powerful survival anthem to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream VANNGO’s wider discography, including HEARTBREAKER USA, and Hunger for Love.
