As long term fans of Gianfranco GFN, having covered a slew of his recent releases, we were stoked to see that an instrumental version of Jumping Around had appeared, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
The opus kicks off with a dimensional retro soul meets acid jazz soundscape with fierce trumpets, astral bells, a boundless bass line and cerebral, psychedelic guitar performances. Textured drums guide us further into the high octane universe that Gianfranco GFN is manifesting with Jumping Around.
There is a cinematic allure to the track – like an 80s cop film set in Hollywood – ideal for a comedy car chase scene or even a disco moment. The instrumental mastery that comes through is effortless and refined – there is no doubt that Gianfranco GFN is a master of his artistry.
Jumping Around feels likes like it has a narrative – carefully curated ebbs and flows, a tempo that remains mostly steadfast, but builds with drama and anticipate. The final moments of the track are a peaceful climactic repose that leaves us yearning for more!
In fact, the genre expansive sound, which features a fusion of groove, soul and acid-jazz is coined as his own unique blend and genre, namely – GIAZZ!, which the visionary composer describes as “a joyful, danceable, liberating breath, cut to make bodies and hearts leap.”
