Establishing the mood with a cerebral and industrial soundscape, expanding with Eastern adjacency, Skar de Line opens Inside with the metaphorical lyrics, “I wanna get inside, I wanna feast my eyes, I gotta go, fall down the rabbit’s hole, see just how far it goes, I wanna know…”
The opus taps into a dimensional energy, which feels enlightened and mysterious. The production is exquisite, as with all of Skar de Line‘s releases, and we appreciate the pulsing bass that emerges to accompany Skar’s captivating timbre.
There is a naturally introspective nature to the lyricism, but it feels deep – almost spiritual and self-realized. Speaking on the release, Skar de Line confesses, “Inside is built around the haunting metaphor of Pandora’s Box, capturing the relentless drive to untangle the mysteries within, to peel back layer after layer in the hope of understanding who we truly are.”
In Greek mythology, Pandora’s Box is a mythical object that, when opened, released all the evils and miseries into the world. It is often used as a metaphor for something that, once started, causes many unforeseen and problematic consequences.
We love Skar de Line‘s intelligent use of this concept to create a visionary track that has a personal flair with reference to the ancient construct. “In the eyes of Pandora, am I closer than before?” sings the star in the bridge. The harmonies in the finale are out of this world – super dynamic and wholly captivating – like the box has just been opened!

Inside comes with an adventure-based and rather surrealist music video, out next week – once again written, directed, and edited by Skar de Line himself. The clip is filmed in an old farm and mill in rural Sweden, the visual narrative expands on the arc of his previous single Vignette, where Skar set fire to his blank self-portrait.
In Inside, we see that Skar de Line “dives deeper into the layers of his psyche, unraveling the mystery of who he is and why he is the way he is”. The cinematography is brilliant with floating cards, dripping wax, mirrors that show different refections and much more as he teases the opening of the illusive box. We love Skar de Line‘s performance, showcasing his acting skills and building another layer to his already outstanding visual universe.
There is no doubt that Skar de Line is a passionate and talented soul, manifesting a sonic and cinematic journey that is unique to his own design. We love listening to star’s cohesive discography and immersing ourselves in his fantastical visual dimension. Naturally, we have added Inside to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY and TIMELESS playlists.
