Conscious artiste Jenny Maybee is in the process of unveiling her magnum opus, and as we near the release, she has unveiled the single, I Am Love – a poignant, self-realized message that transcends the physical – showing us how Jenny is indeed not only the universe, but how her artistry is designed to help us remember that we too are love energy.
Drawing us in with dark-funk vibe with astral ad libs, Jenny sings, “I am everything I want, I am everything I need, I am the joy of creation, I am ecstasy, I am the sun that shines, I am the moon that breathes, I am the heart that beats, I am the song that sings…”
The opus expands with an almost Americana-esque series of guitar riffs with a playful organ, as Jenny shares her message of love and empowerment. The tempo shift is divine, slowing to show us the diversity in the artist on a more zoned in level – it’s trippy and followed by captivating choral questions as Jenny asks us what are we going to do and feel as she cements her universal energy.
Speaking on the release, Jenny shares her wisdom, “When life hands you something that you don’t like, or that doesn’t feel good, the answer is always the same – go within and love yourself. Forgive. Focus on where you want to go and the way will open up, because the only real truth is love.”
On her sonic influence, the star adds, “This sounds like what might happen if Alabama Shakes met James Blake in a smoky club at 3 a.m. It’s equal parts Etta James and Anderson.Paak. Old school blues with a swinging bridge, but brought into the modern era with electronic elements and production. It’s the sonic equivalent of saying: the old and the new don’t have to be at war with each other, they can blend and create something entirely fresh.”
