Drawing us in with the sound of radio static, akin to the changing of stations in a car radio Cuzoh opens Slow Down with the lyrics, “It’s cold when there’s nowhere to go now baby, you should take it slow now slow down baby…”
The opus expands with poetic prowess as Cuzoh shares his wisdom and philosophical depththrough high octane bars and a captivating, conscious flow. The track is laced with hooks, clever concepts and a raw authenticity that transmutes as Cuzoh shares his art as activism.
We learn that Slow Down delves into a cautionary tale addressing the challenges faced by women in the world. Cuzoh tells us how “The track explores how women navigate societal pressures through the lens of money, power, crime, and drugs.”

The conscious astute artist adds, “I came up with the idea for song during a 20 mile run while training for the NYC marathon.” It’s known that the best ideas often manifest when outdoors and it feels like this universal download was perfectly timed to come to life at this moment, when women need it the most.
Cuzoh tells us “This song is fiction but is full of factual events”, but there is no doubt that his lived experience is also transpiring here and has shaped his perspective. The track itself was produced with Antagonist Dragonspit, who Cuzoh has been collaborating with for over twenty years!
There is no doubt that the themes of Slow Down would be a great fit for a TV show soundtrack like Bad Mothers or Bad Girls, it’s fierce, real, intelligently crafted and most of all eye opening. Naturally, we have added Slow Down to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream Cuzoh‘s wider discography, including Say It With Your Chest, and Stronger Living.
