Drawing us in with an astral cymbal textured, expanding into a luscious guitar soundscape with trippy percussive elements, Astral Rocks opens A Father‘s Cry with a captivating timbre and philosophical depth as she sings, “nI a fleeting moment, a child is born, yet we never met, I’m a stranger in his eyes…”
The opus expands with orchestral strings arrangement and an anthemic, stadium ready sound with a nod to the 80s as the star shares her soul and high emotional quotient. The instrumental performances are timeless and masterful, whilst Astral Rocks‘ vocals are transcendental. The key change before the guitar solo is out of this world, and has us fully in our feels!
“Hear my plea, a father’s cry, how can I live when they bleed me dry?” questions the talented songstress with the hook of A Father‘s Cry. The track holds a cinematic allure, perfect for a coming of age movie with daddy issues!
There is a wider message to the track which references the patriarchal system that we exist in – this is truly a dimensional release. Speaking on the release, Astral Rocks confesses, “A Father’s Cry was inspired by the silent suffering I’ve seen in men who were erased not by failure, but by force. Fathers who loved their children, but were cut out of their lives by mothers who used custody as control. Fathers who weren’t abusive, absent, or dangerous just inconvenient. Silenced. I’ve watched this happen up close. I’ve felt the rage, the helplessness, and the grief that so many fathers carry but are never allowed to express.”

Astral Rocks adds, “Although my own relationship with my father was painful and complex, this song wasn’t written for him. It was written for the men I’ve seen suffer quietly loving fathers who were pushed aside, unheard, and broken by systems and silence.”
We learn that the recording process was defined by emotional authenticity and a stripped-down, raw approach that prioritized truth over perfection. Recorded at Nikki Studio in Budapest – a place of deep personal resonance for Milli, the artist behind Astral Rocks. Mixing and mastering were entrusted to Brad Grobler of BIG Productions and backing vocals were provided by Ian Hadwick.
Naturally, we have added A Father’s Cry to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Astral Rocks‘ debut single, IN THE DARK, and anticipate future releases from the talented artist.
