Establishing the mood with an emotive guitar performance, Mitch Dubin opens Whole Damn Heart with raw, situational prose as he sings, “I was tangled up when Mel came through, no hesitation so I leaned in too, twenty-five years, been through some hell, doesn’t feed the lie she can always tell, she’s all about the arts, being patient and true, taught with her soul, made our boys strong too…”
Mitch’s flow is captivating – laced with authenticity and vulnerability as he shares his lived experience. Whole Damn Heart serves as a heartfelt tribute to his family life and struggles. The star reflects on the emotional proximity to his partner, Mel, whose strength and constant presence has contributed to the development of their family.
He also reflects on his sons Noah and Jace, and how they are both unique in terms of their abilities. Mitch shows us how he is intentional with his fatherly purpose, and credits his children for the catharsis of healing him and striving for a self-realized reality.
The last verse is dedicated to his parents and sister. Mitch ponders how if life stripped him of everything he hoped and dreamed of, he would always know that love has been given and received in the most authentic way.
Mitch confesses, “Whole Damn Heart is the most vulnerable piece of music I’ve ever put out. It’s a real-time reflection of the wreckage I caused during my addiction and the people who stood by me when I was at my worst. It’s a tribute to my wife, my sons, my parents, and my sister – all of whom held the line until I could get my life back.”

The star adds, “This isn’t a typical single. It’s a confession, a love letter, and a survival anthem. If your platform supports music rooted in lived experience – something flawed and real but ultimately hopeful – this song is for you.”
Whole Damn Heart feels extremely authentic and could bring you to tears with its unrivalled honesty. There are few artists who wear their heart on their sleeve in the way that Mitch has done with this record.
We could imagine that experiencing this live would be an epic experience, to live through these memories, hopes and realities with the talented artist himself.
