We previously featured Anna Thoresen for her soul-stirring anthem of isolation and resistance, LONELY, so when we heard the the star was back with DIRTY LAUNDRY, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us in with a super intricate, layered acoustic guitar soundscape with a rising kick crescendo, exploding into a vortex of an alternative rock soundscape with astral ad libs of the title of the track with shooting textures, Anna Thoresen opens DIRTY LAUNDRY with an assertive nature as she sings, “I’m not picking up your dirty laundry, I’m not going through your drawers, I don’t care what you’re hiding here, get your shit up off the floor, I don’t wanna be your little secret…”
The track is fierce, raw and unapologetic. We appreciate the epic guitars and the down-tuned vocal design which adds a super cerebral edge to the song – it’s almost psychedelic and trippy at the same time as being a pop-rock anthem!

There’s a stadium ready vibe to what Anna is manifesting. Fans of early P!nk and Kelly Clarkson might be able to connect with Anna’s vibe, though she cites Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin, and Amy Winehouse as influences. Anna confesses how the song was inspired by her own “struggles with mistreatment from men”, igniting a fire within her to create this empowering track. We also learn that all of the instruments were played live for the first time, adding a new dimension to her sound!
Anna confesses, “I was simply tired of being treated poorly by men, and it pushed me to write this song.” She adds, “This song felt like it had been brewing inside of me for years, and I was finally able to get it out after having a bad experience with a guy. Even though that sucked, I’m grateful for the experience because without him I may have never been able to write this song.”
Naturally, we have added DIRTY LAUNDRY to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream Anna Thoresen‘s growing discography, and anticipate future releases from the evolving star!
