Drawing us with a cerebral and dimensional soundscape, B-MACK opens EXIST AS YOU ARE with the fierce and assertive energy, and the presence of his alter ego Black-foot Ayeshi, as he shares the repeated mantra, “Either exist as you are or be as your look…”
The opus has a raw and trippy vibe, reminding us of Prince‘s ad libs. It is extremely catchy and we appreciate the philosophical approach. The sonic switch up to amore melodic vibe with running water feels almost transcendental before a return to form to solidify the intentional message of the song.
With reference to his intention, the star tells us, “After listening several times, I self-imposed an embargo to NOT WRITE ANY LYRICS for this song and put it out as a single as is… The voice is clearly conjuring phrases that could’ve been sung or articulated with words, but it shows broader diversity in use of the voice. Words do not say everything.”

Speaking on his inspiration, B-MACK confesses, “Several artists in particular inspired me to create an additional outlet (alter-ego) for my creativity… David Bowie’s ‘Ziggie Stardust,’ Prince’s ‘Camille,’ George Clinton’s ‘Dr. Funkenstein’… I have an alter-ego… His name is Black-foot Ayeshi… given to me by Berbers that time I spent in Morocco (around 2004).”
Elaborating on the unique production, the visionary artist adds, “I placed two types of dried beans in a large ritual drum (small red beans & lentils) and rhythmically shook them to fill any space between the drum phrases… I used a STERLING ST51 Class A FET condenser microphone to capture it and the same mic to capture my voice… I went bananas! Shaking, bouncing and spilling beans all over the place!!”
We are in awe of what B-MACK is manifesting and the intention that he creates with to liberate us all from the shackles of our own minds and society’s limits. We have added EXIST AS YOU ARE to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist!
