Establishing the mood with a sublime banjo performance intertwined with a strummed acoustic guitar, Michellar and Tobias Wilson open Intersection with a narrative based vocal introduction from Tobias, as he sings, “I saw you walking down the street over there, smiling at the way I stare at you…”
The opus expands with relatable themes of human connection with textured drums and an almost spiritual folk energy that transmutes from the composition. The tempo shift with a mild crescendo for the chorus is genius, adding dynamisms to the piece.
The second verse slows again, allowing the story of the song to shine through. We appreciate the sonic ebbs and flows, bringing to life Tobias’s charming delivery and ode to love. The second verse picks up pace once again before a dimensional instrumental middle eight with a sublime organ synth, leading us to an anthemic finale.
With reference to the influences, Michellar comments, “Artists such as Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers influenced this track with the vibe and banjo and guitar acoustic instruments. Those sounds resonated with me when I wrote this song in all of its essence and story telling deliveries.”

The song is a masterpiece, the only thing we miss is Michellar’s voice, but her compositional and songwriting skills really do shine through. She adds, “I wanted to write a song that took me away from the sad realm I was in the at the time. The story of love at first sight is one that I always believed in. That fleeting moment of finding the one person who you want to live the rest of your life has always been a magical place in my mind. I wanted to capture that magic in this song. That magic expressed and felt in a place where moments of danger can be all present at one time is a story made me feel liberated from the woes of my life.”
Naturally, we have added Intersection to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Michellar, and anticipate future releases from both artists!
