We recently featured Rebecca Anderson when she shared her cosmic connection and higher purpose with her intentional and ethereal debut single, In The Beginning, so when we found out that the conscious star was back with Lay It All Down, we were curious and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience!
Drawing us in with a cerebral synthcape and a textured kick drum with astral melodies and a dimensional bass, Rebecca Anderson opens Lay It All Down with a stream of thoughts and emotions as she sings, “I bring it all to you, I know your word is true, and yet my mind keeps replaying my stresses… I know you see everything I’m going through, and I know that you always come through, so I’ll just wait here in your presence…”
The opus expands with luscious harmonies as Rebecca shares her soul and dedication towards her muse. Fans of Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse and even early Beyonce would be able to connect with the authenticity and charm that manifests from Rebecca’s voice and songwriting.

The compressed, spacey moment for the penultimate chorus and outro are simply sublime, adding a dynamism to the already engaging piece with an evocative strings arrangement to close. As for its themes, Lay It All Down talks about dealing with the trials and tribulations of existence. It serves as a message of finding peace through the cathartic release of worries.
We learn that the song was inspired by Rebecca’s own lived experience, especially the struggles of those close to her, and the state of our shared reality. Through her authenticity and her emotive performance, she invites us all to let go and move forward with a sense of hope.
Lay It All Down forms part of Rebecca’s upcoming debut album, Citizen of Heaven. Naturally, we have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Rebecca Anderson, including her sophomore single, Forever Grateful.
