Drawing us in with an intricate guitar soundscape, Danielle Dennis opens Where To Begin with a transcendental vocal performance and metaphorical lyrics as she sings, “Withering on this vine, bearing fruit just to watch it die… Another spoiled tree, lost to time, I carry the sins…”
The opus expands with cerebral vocal harmonies and a haunting, elegant energy that instrumentally reminds us of Lana Del Rey‘s song, Shades of Blue. Lyrically, Danielle Dennis manifests a cinematic allure and reminds us of Sarah McLaughlin.
An electric guitar bassline emerges as the song takes on a higher energy with anthemic drum strikes, building with a high emotional quotient, drawing us deeper into Danielle Dennis‘s descriptive and introspective universe. Needless to say, we are in awe. Where To Begin is produced with Tom Moth (Florence + The Machine) and Eric Anduha.
Speaking on the minimalism of the composition, Danielle confesses, “This song is intentionally quite stripped down in an effort for the music to reflect the raw intensity of the subject matter. This one’s for anyone who loves sad girl music with a punch of emotive poignancy!”

We learn that Danielle Dennis is a San Francisco-born singer-songwriter based in the French Quarter of New Orleans. She began writing songs after a devastating breakup and a diagnosis of complex PTSD pushed her to explore her emotions through the medium of music.
Blending a hybrid of folk rock with elements of pop, trip-hop, and punk, her deeply personal and emotionally raw music is designed to help her process inner turmoil and trauma, in turn also manifesting catharsis for her listeners.
Naturally, we have added Where To Begin to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Danielle Dennis including her debut single, Give Up The Ghost, and her sophomore release, Fool’s Gold.
