Drawing us in with a dimensional soundscape featuring muted bell tones, a subversive yet subtle baseline and cerebral ad libs, Rioboi Marcus opens MOTION with an epic flow and captivating timbre as he shares an aspirational message with somewhat relatable prose.
The opus expands with an assertive flow, with switch ups rivalling some of the greatest rappers in history. He even references some of them. We appreciate the journey that Rioboi Marcus takes us on and the playful nature of his vibe.
As he takes us on a ride through the city, we are transported into Rioboi’s universe – aspirational, badass and empowering. The song comes in at over four minutes, which is refreshing – the hooks stay in our heads long after the track is over. The rising star reminds us of early WuTang Clan and even a bit of Twista, and he cites Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy as sonic influences!

We learn that Rioboi is indeed a multi-disciplinary artist who writes, produces, and records his music from his professional home studio. Though Rioboi Marcus hails from Grand Forks, North Dakota, his music is actually deeply rooted in the gritty streets of Orlando, Florida, where he spent his teenage years, shaping both his worldview and his musical foundation.
Speaking on the release of MOTION and his intention, Rioboi Marcus confesses, “I had to get out the mud… yeah I was out here selling drugs… yeah I made a quarter do backflip… I hide them racks under mattress.”
He continues, “I work with what I have to create great content and music for myself and the world to enjoy… I do it for the love of the art. I’m still learning and growing… more music on the way, so keep your ears open and listen—because I’m gonna make my noise for the world to hear!”
Naturally, we have added MOTION to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to explore Rioboi Marcus‘s wider discography, including BLACK WALL STREET, and LEGIT.
