One of the most inspiring artists that we have have the honour of featuring over the last couple of years is Dax, so when we heard that the visionary Canadian singer and rapper was back with Lonely Dirt Road, we couldn’t wait to share our experience of the track in detail!
Opening with cinematic keys, astral textures and astral guitar melodies with cerebral synths, Dax kicks off Lonely Dirt Road with introspective prose as he sings, “When I need space, that’s where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows, where I feel free to let things go, and face this evil that burdens my soul…”
He continues with a high emotional quotient, “I bring my hatred, I pack my pain, all the emotions I cannot explain, it’s where I found God and filled that hole, it’s he, myself, and I on that Lonely Dirt Road…“
In essence, the message of Lonely Dirt Road serves as a deeply personal reflection on the emotional burdens carried in silence. It explores Dax‘s need for solitude to process pain and inner turmoil. The metaphor of “lonely dirt road” is both a literal escape and a symbolic journey toward healing, faith, and self-understanding.
Overall, the song speaks to the pressure of fulfilling societal and familial expectations, whilst hiding internal struggles – especially as a man. It reveals a spiritual reckoning, confronting past wounds and seeking peace in a place untouched by judgment – just God, Dax, and the road.
The star says, “This story is about the mental health walks I used to take to clear my head that have now turned into mental health drives.” Dax adds, “My relationship with God heavily influenced this release at the highest level.”
Naturally, we have added the song to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Dax‘s epic discography and immerse ourselves in the cinematic accompanying visual and Dax‘s growing music video universe!
