Drawing us in with an intricate and layered guitar soundscape, with an astral melody, expanding with textured percussion, Paul Mezzanotte opens Back in Time with a narrative as he sings, “I took a boat on a four mile trip, didn’t know what I found, then I saw it…”
The opus evolves with situational prose and a descriptive, cinematic allure as Paul shares a tale of escaping the stresses of everyday life, and discovering a peaceful, laid-back paradise. Back in Time captures the joy of reconnecting with nature and simpler times on a serene island.
We deeply connect with the vivid imagery of boats, sunshine, and sea life – it truly celebrates the calming beauty of Pine Island in South West Florida. We appreciate the instrumental mastery that brings to life the prose, and the universe that Paul Mezzanotte is manifesting.

Speaking on the creative process of the track, Paul confesses that the song was not only written, but also recorded at Farmadelica in Bokeelia, Florida, with a recording process lasting just four hours. It was produced and engineered by Howard Merlin. We absolutely love the self referential lyrical nod in the first line! Intelligent and universally aligned songwriting at its best.
This all really highlights Paul’s dedication to his craft as a conscious artist who writes about peace and the beauty that our planet has to offer. Fans will be happy to know that Paul has upcoming performances lined up at the Jungle Bird Tiki and Cabbage Key Inn & Restaurant!
Naturally, we have added Back in Time to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Paul Mezzanotte‘s sophomore single, It’s A New Day.
