By now, you will know that we are huge fans of Chandra, having featured the inspiring and thought-provoking, Smile (No Fox Gibbon), the intentional and philosophical, I’ll Be There, and the optimistic and philosophical empowerment anthem, Lifted, so when we heard that the rising pop-rock quartet had just released We Want Our Planet Back, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience!
Drawing us in with a meditative frequency and a dramatic guitar soundscape, Chandra opens We Want Our Planet Back with poignant lyrics about the state of our shared planet, gender and coming together to reclaim control over Earth.
There is a sentiment that reminds us of early My Chemical Romance, and epic instrumental work with choral vocals that feels stadium-ready as Chandra invite us to sing with them, intertwined with out of this world guitar solos!
We Want Our Planet Back is an emotional and passionate call to action for environmental justice and climate activism. It is an anthem of reclamation and renewal which urges unity across identities to fight against the greed and destruction that is harming our planet.
Speaking on the release, Chandra confess, “It’s about coming together despite all the awful political decisions that are trashing our future. It’s a serious message from us but it’s also mixed in with our trademark vibe of having fun and not taking ourselves too seriously.”

They continue, “Especially now in 2025 it feels like every time we take a small step in the right direction we are dragged back again by money, power and greed. This song is a call to arms, a protest song… a unifying surge of energy that reminds us we can take our planet back if we work together and shout loud enough.”
We Want Our Planet Back is written by Chandra and co-produced by Chandra and Elliot Vaughan, who also worked on Lifted and Overload. Chandra is comprised of Chris Wong on bass, whilst Mike Paul slays on lead guitar, and of course frontman Chandra Nair on vocals and guitar. The song comes with an epic music video where viewers can choose to either watch a video of the villain or watch a video of the heroes, thematically in line with the concept of life on Earth! Genius. Make sure to tune into Chandra’s YouTube channel for all of the options!
We have added this important anthem to our New Music Spotlight Playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Chandra‘s wider discography, and anticipate future releases from the visionary band.
