We recently featured Garfield Mayor’s Any Tips? (Jimmy James), which challenged the soul, whilst offering hope and redemption, so when we heard that the talented artist was back with More The Fool, we were curious to say the least and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
More The Fool opens with a cinematic energy, intricate guitars, astral strings and textured drums as Garfield shares a high emotional quotient with poetic prowess and intentional depth. Garfield’s soul really shines through and we are in awe of the arrangement, which is sublime and heart wrenching.
With reference to the message of the song, the talented artist confesses, “Narratively the song is a reaction to unchallenged bigotry.” This feels zeitgeist and poignant, at a time when we need it the most, in a society that appears to be consistently being challenged. Garfield’s intent feels pure and necessary.
He comments, “Whether it’s racism, misogyny, ageism whatever, in the moment it be hard to call out. I’ve let myself down this way. More The Fool reminds me to be brave and better.” We definitely need more activism in the world, and we a-early appreciate art as activism and that is what Garfield is manifesting with the opus.

Fans of Richard Ashcroft and Sting will absolutely be able to connect with the soundscape, but there is also no doubt that what Garfield Mayor is creating unique to his own design. Whilst the narrative of his art has evolved, More The Fool cements the star’s signature sound.
We learn that the track was recorded at BiCoastal Music in New York with Grammy-winning oversight, and is designed to prioritize songwriting over production, reinforcing the creator’s unwavering pursuit of truth amidst rising prejudice.
We love what Garfield Mayor is sharing, and have added More The Fool to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the star’s growing discography and anticipate future releases!
