Establishing the mood with a cerebral, yet meditative frequency, astral tones, a dimensional riser, like a fly-by comet, H.I.O.B opens Remember the Truth with an energy that feels holistic and also futuristic. The opus expands with techno drums and a surrealist trance like vibe that has us feeling transported yet grounded.
The opus is club friendly, if the club specialised in avant-garde techno beats with an ethereal edge. The sound design nuances as magnetic, glitched and even include what appears to be a transformed vocals, giving it this humanised edge.
We feel at one with ourselves and the universe during this trip. There is no doubt that H.I.O.B is a masterful producer, but also a visionary with regards the ancient futurism that transmutes from the beat. We appreciate the cinematic allure of the piece, and could imagine that Remember the Truth would fit well in a potential Matrix sequel or reboot. A vocal sample re-emerges, different this time, but once again giving off this masculine energy that feels down-pitched but also almost tribal in nature.
The track comes in at just under five minutes, but leaves us yearning for more, so we are glad to find out that there is an extended version to immerse ourselves in. We learn that the track has a deeply personal inspiration and is in fact inspired by H.I.O.B‘s dog, Loki, which brings to life the essence of instinct and primal origins.
“Loki lives his instincts with ease without giving them a second thought. This song will remain an eternal memory of my faithful companion”, comments H.I.O.B. We love that primal sentiment which manifests within the composition, recorded in the studio of Beta-Time Records in Berlin, Germany.
Naturally, we have added Remember the Truth to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY and TIMELESS playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of H.I.O.B, including RAVE, and About Love.
