By now, you will no doubt know that we are huge fans of LTB‘s swoon-worthy sound, having covered a slew of his recent singles. What stands out about LTB, also known as Logan Barnhill, is his dedication to the craft, his consistency with releases, and his poetic prowess which oozes authenticity. Naturally, we were excited to hear that he had just dropped his latest release, Butterflies, so we were keen to have a listen and immerse ourselves, once more, in his sonic universe.
Logan opens Butterflies with a cerebral synthscape, reminiscent of his wider discography, which demonstrates the cohesive approach to the LTB brand. The trippy and immersive vibe is intertwined with ad libs as Logan sings, “ohh o woah…”.
The opus expands with descriptive prose that brings us in to the universe of a butterfly, resting on a flower, drifting away into the skies and the liberation that comes with being a winged insect from the lepidopteran superfamily Papilionoidea.
We appreciate the metaphorical approach to the lyricism and the mood that LTB evokes with the instrumentation matching the whimsical narrative of the song. Logan tells us, “[The] track delves into the intoxicating highs and devastating lows of love, capturing the sting of betrayal and the struggle to break free.”

He confesses how the refrain, “Love forever taken, wonder if my heart can take it…” is designed to echo the “emotional weight of lost trust”. We feel that come through in the overarching sentiment, and the moments of silence that the composition ensnares us with, actually speak volumes, almost like the meditative moments of the existence of a butterfly.
“[The song] is about the realization that love isn’t always what it seems,” elaborates LTB. “It’s about feeling deceived yet unable to walk away, like being drawn to something beautiful, even when you know it burns.”
As before, LTB cites The Weeknd, Joji, and Steve Lacy as some of his sonic influences, which certainly transpires on Butterflies, but it is also abundantly clear that Logan Barnhill is manifesting a universe unto his own. We have added Butterflies to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to explore LTB‘s wider discography, and anticipate future releases from the rising and authentic star.
