Establishing the mood with ethereal ad libs and an intimate acoustic guitar soundscape, just Min open Scars with the contemplative prose, “if we never try, what are we doing, why are we wasting time, do I chase you in every life?”. Something that we have come to love from just Min is his deep authenticity, and Scars is yet another example of this.
He reassures us with the line, “It’s ok to be scared…” and reminds us that our scars are what make us and that perfection lies in our imperfections. He is a soulful creator who understands the fragility of humanity and reality.
A heartfelt tribute to unconditional love, Scars celebrates the beauty of embracing someone completely – flaws, past wounds, and all. Following the success of just Min’s alt-pop anthem High Speed and the self-produced single Self Medicate, the song further highlights the artist’s evolving sound and artistry.
Speaking on the release, Korean-born just Min confesses, “I was initially going to name my debut EP after this song; that’s how much this song means to me. I wrote Scars on the guitar before any production and it just felt special.”

The talented multi-disciplinary artist continues, “It’s also one of the first songs I ever fully produced. At the time, I was writing a lot of dark and sad music and I wanted to create something healing instead. That was my intention with Scars; it ended up as a song telling someone who doesn’t see their own worth that they are loved exactly as they are. We’re all carrying things from our past, but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve love. There’s something truly beautiful about loving someone through your own personal troubles, even if you’ve both been through some dark stuff in the past.”
“I love you even with your scars…” is such poignant message and artist ethos, it is no surprise that Min wanted to name his record after the song. It’s something wholesome, that in this day and age of sought perfectionism, we can relish in.
Fans of Joji and Frank Ocean will be able to connect with just Min, and it is no surprise that he has been supported by Wonderland, Notion, and Melodic Magazine to name a few. We have added Scars to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream just Min‘s growing discography including the entirety of the Scars EP!
