Our obsession with ECKOES seems to grow with every listen! We previously featured her single, Human, and as soon as we learned that the talented creator was back with Amnesia, and Lose My Mind, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Amnesia holds a hypnotic energy with a trippy bassline and a cerebral glitched middle eight that showcases the star’s operatic vocals, intertwined with a subversive, minimalist vibe. The overarching spiritual tech-pop vibe is sublime.
Speaking on the release, ECKOES confesses, “Amnesia is about [when] you start talking to an ex again. Fooling yourself that maybe it was just the wrong time, they’ve changed, there were such good times, then they do something that reminds you exactly why you’re not together anymore, and you snap out of it. That selective amnesia.”
Lose My Mind taps into a futuristic tribal frequency with a mantra-esque delivery of the hook. We appreciate the dimensionality of the track, and the sensual journey that ECKOES takes us on. She tells us, “Lose My Mind is an ode to the club. That feeling when you hear your jam come on and you look at your friends and you all scream and run to the dance floor. Music’s so powerful – it’s like a summons that takes over your body. It’s magic.”
We love how ECKOES manifests this experience with trippy production, her stunning vocal timbre with evocative prose and the mind-bending artworks created with Sue Realist. We have added both songs to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of ECKOES!
