Drawing us in with reverbing bell tones and ASMR-stlye chants with an overarching dimensional soundscape, expanding with a fierce electric guitar performance and the mantra-esque delivery of the title of the track, VELANTINE open FCK YOU ALL with a cerebral passion – needless to say, we are obsessed.
The opus expands with a cohesive theme, and a poignant approach to song creation, with the charismatic depth that we would expect from a song called FCK YOU ALL. The message is relatable and we appreciate the evolution of the prose with its introspective depth.
Speaking on the message of the song, VELANTINE confess that FCK YOU ALL is “a song that talks about the frustration of being a musician and feeling invisible.” Speaking more philosophically, the creators add, “Often this leads to substance abuse and mental health issues in our industry. The truth in all this is that we have to learn to write for ourselves, if it affects others in a positive way, that’s awesome.”
Indeed the composition feels cathartic in nature – and is intentionally created to allow us to purge the more frustrated sentiments that we accrue over time when we do not feel connected with what we are achieving. FCK YOU ALL serves as an anthem, allowing us to release pent-up resentment and frustration through its raw, unapologetic lyrics. The cerebrally aggressive energy of the music provides a powerful outlet for emotional expression and personal liberation.
Loki Lockwood, who pioneers VELANTINE elaborates, “The high of creation is irresistible, a mysterious force that compels us to write music even when we feel invisible. It’s a journey of frustration and joy, where songs fall from the sky and become ours to shape.”
We learn that Loki was inspired to manifest FCK YOU ALL after seeing Barb Dwyers perform, who is also the featured vocalist on the track! We love what the pair have presented with this release, and have added FCK YOU ALL to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream VELANTINE‘s wider discography, including No God, and Whisper Park, and anticipate future releases from the talented creators.
