We recently featured The Neuromaniacs for the project’s psychedelic and prophetic debut opus, Revelations, so when we heard that Johnny Brewer was back with Remnants, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Setting the tone with a cosmic rising frequency with glistening nuance, textured drums and an astral synthscape, The Neuromaniacs open Remnants with the dimensionality and depth that we have come to connect with.
The opus feels holistic, tapping into that psychedelia that we love so much, and showcasing a energy that is elegant and celestial. The addition of high strings with an out of this world electric guitar performance captivate us further before a sonic switch up to clarity that feels cinematic and dramatic.
Johnny confesses, “This instrumental piece is inspired by the idea that circles make up a large part of life and our universe and everywhere we look there are remnants to the beginning of time and the creation of the galaxies.”
Epic guitar work brings to life a sublime and slew motion energy as the tempo switches up showcasing the depths of our collective spirit before an astral synth amplifies dynamism. We are in awe, and the emotional finale feels like an ascension.
We love the concept of the composition, and how The Neuromaniacs manifest a shared cosmic experience with an organ synth akin to a human vocal. It’s frankly masterful and we can imagine the piece being synched to countless avant-garde films, perhaps a Lars Von Trier movie.
Speaking further on the release, Johnny adds, “I started working on this track during the Revelations sessions. My initial idea for this release was to include a second track that I had developed previously and make it a double release. I was approached by the lead singer of another band, all shall be revealed at a later date, and he expressed an interest in writing lyrics for this third track and laying down a lead vocal. I jumped at the chance to work with him. Owing to his busy schedule and availability to track the vocals, I made the decision to hold off and release that third track as a stand alone single in the coming months. Funnily enough, we will be recording the vocals on Friday, June 14th, the release day of Remnants. I also produced the video for the single, drawing on the elements that I mentioned earlier to paint a picture.”
Remnants is available to purchase, along with Revelations via The Neuromaniacs‘ BandCamp!
