Coco Reed shares her mystical side with bold and assertive sophomore single, Gypsy Spell

Drawing us in with a cerebral riser, astral vocal ad libs and a dimensional, yet immersive guitar soundscape, Coco Reed opens Gypsy Spell with warmth and a sense of timelessness, before sharing choral vocals with situational prose.

The opus expands with a unique brand of narrative storytelling, a captivating bassline, and celestial charm as Coco Reed sings the hook, I put a Gypsy Spell on you…”. The charisma that the star exudes is tangible, and we feel at one with her throughout the sonic experience.

The middle eight is sublime and we are obsessed with the final reprise before an intimate deconstruction, leaving us yearning for more. Coco confesses, “Gypsy Spell is a true story. It’s an honest and brave song, as it tells the story of when I went to the desert alone, only with my crystals and incense, to put a spell on my ex-boyfriend for cheating on me on me on the worst possible way.”

The star continues, “I emphasize honest and brave, because it’s a song that faces feelings that most of the time we want to run away from. It dares to shed the typical feminine and polished role that us women usually carry, and incarnates the empowered and fierce woman, one who is in charge of her own fate. A woman who is not going to accept that others will overshadow her, demean her or hurt her. A woman who is cool, mystical, and that is connected to the moon and the sun. We all have that magic that guides us, whether conscious or unconscious.”

We love the intentional manner in which Coco Reed creates, and the charismatic depth that she exudes with her sophomore single. Gypsy Spell seamlessly blends fresh sounds with vintage, dusty vibes. The song features clean and pristine vocals, striking the perfect balance between edgy alternative rock and subtle country elements.

Coco Reed is me, my naked heart and soul are in this song,” the star elaborates. “It’s a true and passionate story about feelings and bad experiences that we often want to run away from, but end up redeeming in the most blessed way – by creating art and a whole concept around that experience.”

The talented creator from Santiago, Chile, hopes her song will resonates with listeners who have faced similar trials, turning their pain into something beautiful. She cites Alanis Morisette, Lainey Wilson, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, and Fleetwood Mac as sonic influences, which we can feel come thought with Gypsy Spell, although there is no doubt that Coco Reed is manifesting a universe of her own.

We have added Gypsy Spell to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Coco Reed‘s debut single, Song for my Grandparents, and anticipate future releases from the visionary artist.
