We recently featured Joshua Pearlstein as he shared his philosophical depth with his dynamic and immersive sophomore opus, Wandering Degenerate, so when we found out that the talented artist was back with Endorphins, our serotonin levels shot up, and we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience!
Tapping into a commercial pop frequency with a high octane flow, Endorphins showcases a captivating hook with a dimensional bassline and a relatable message. Joshua Pearlstein‘s range is sublime, we love his chord progressions and the drama that ensues is hypnotic! The string chops are electric, and we deeply connect with the star’s timbre and the pop sensibilities that remind us of Maroon 5, 5SOS and *NSYNC!
Speaking on the concept of Endorphins , Joshua confesses, “I made this song in 36 hours from start to finish after a girl rejected me, and everything just clicked. I wrote this song because of a feeling I have that the Divine forces that be are keeping love away from me because it would distract me from making music.”
A song like Endorphins is important because it encapsulates raw, genuine emotion and transforms personal pain into a universal experience that listeners can relate to. Joshua’s rapid creation of the song, within just 36 hours following a poignant personal rejection, highlights the immediacy and intensity of their feelings. This urgency and authenticity can resonate deeply with audiences who have experienced similar heartbreak and frustration.
The rising artist’s reflection on divine forces influencing their love life to focus on music adds a layer of philosophical and spiritual depth. It suggests a struggle between personal desires and a perceived higher calling, which many people can relate to in various contexts, not just in love but in other areas where passion and duty might conflict.
By turning a deeply personal narrative into art, Endorphins becomes a medium for connection and understanding. It validates the listener’s emotions and experiences, reminding them that they are not alone in their feelings. The vulnerability and honesty in the song can be cathartic for both the artist and the audience, fostering a sense of shared humanity and empathy.
Endorphins is important because it turns an intimate and painful moment into something beautiful and meaningful, offering solace and solidarity to anyone who has faced rejection or felt the tension between personal desires and greater purposes. We have added Endorphins to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our TRIPPY and TIMELESS playlists, whilst we continue to stream Joshua Pearlstein‘s debut and sophomore singles!
