Enticing us with a tropical soundscape with astral tones and an elegant guitar performance, Himmat Singh opens Drip Drip with an atmospheric ad lib saying, “Whassup, whassup Cali…”, before expanding with a luscious vocal tone to take us on a Punjabi language trip.
We recently featured Himmat Singh and his mother, Betu for their collaborative single which featured Betu on vocals, so it is great to hear Himmat share his soul vocally, cohesively intertwined with his stunning and masterful sonic production.
We love the futuristic echoes on some of the vocals, adding a sense of dimensionality, but it is the core of the track and Himmat’s vocal performance which really invite us to connect with the message of Drip Drip.
Himmat Singh confesses, “This song is about the flirtatious banter from a guy’s perspective talking about a girl he likes. His friends tease him about his crush and he knows she likes him too. The song is light and breezy and focuses mostly on the flirtatious nature of the lyrics and stays upbeat and romantic.”
Its importance lies in providing escapism and joy, being highly relatable, celebrating the fun aspects of romance, enhancing listeners’ moods, contributing to cultural diversity, showcasing the artist’s versatility, and fostering a sense of community and connection among us all at a time when we need it the most! The song’s energy makes for an uplifting and memorable experience.
With reference to the production process, Himmat adds, “Sat on this lyrics and melody for six years until finally found a producer that matched what I was looking for. It took two weeks from there to finalize the track and hopefully the rest is history…”
We love what Himmat shares with his authenticity and positive energy, and have added Drip Drip to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Himmat Singh, including his cover of AKH KASHNI!
