Our obsession with Bear Beat seems to grow with every listen, so when we heard that the talented and visionary creator was back with Mahoya Shine, we were curious to say the least and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Establishing the mood with a dramatic bass and cerebral wood blocks, with a spacey snare and dimensional vocal glitches, Bear Beat opens Mahoya Shine with the imaginative approach that we anticipate from the masterful producer.
Expanding with a tech house meets breakbeat architecture, although avant-garde in its essence, Mahoya Shine exhibits shooting textures and high sirens, fused with a captivating ancestral vocal, before a call for “Mister Producer” to “switch it up”, engaging our cerebral cortex with a panning synth, a sitar-esque plucked sound and pulsating frequencies.
The return of the original vocal is welcomed, and the passion with which the singer performs is magnetic, leaving us with intentional final prose delivered through an ASMR lens. All in all, a trip worth taking!
