Setting the tone with a textured, pulsating beat, coupled with choral, ancestral chants, crowd noise, and a cerebral edge, B-MACK and MsLarayne open Duckgrease Burning at The Crabhouse with dimensionality and intrigue, before expanding into an immersive, melodic vibe, laced with charm and charisma.
Tapping into a playful and sublime frequency, B-MACK, fronted by the talented Bruce Mack, take us on a movement inspired journey with classic references and a futuristic sonic perspective. Bruce’s vocal delivery, accompanied by astral guitar riffs, is luxurious and soulful. Needless to say, we are in awe.
MsLarayne‘s presence adds dynamism and range to the opus, with a captivating hook before Bruce leads us further into his sonic universe with warmth and a high emotional quotient. Speaking on the release, B-MACK confesses, “It is an escapist song that speaks of an imaginary place everyone can go to have a good time.”
With reference to his production process, Bruce adds, “I created a couple of drum tracks that I liked and decided to keep going, found samples of African and Native American chants, I created a bass line, chord rhythm and mimicked a rhythm guitar idea I had in mind, then added lyrics that spoke to the joy of the moment, and it relieved me of some stress I was dealing with!”
B-MACK cite Funkadelic, Jon Hendrix, and Charles Bradley as sonic influences, which we can feel manifest on Duckgrease Burning at The Crabhouse, although there is no doubt that Bruce and his collaborators are creating a universe of their own!
We learn that B-MACK consists of Bruce Mack as composer, on lead vocals and synthesizer, whilst Michael Cox performs electric bass, Ben Tyree shares his skill on guitar, with Chris Eddleton on drums, and Leon Gruenbaum on keyboards!
We love B-MACK‘s sound, and have added Duckgrease Burning at The Crabhouse to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of the band, immerse ourselves in the music video, and anticipate future releases from B-MACK!
