Establishing the mood with bell tolls and a dramatic, bass-immersive soundscape with intricate astral nuances, W1ZZY opens Keep The Change with dimensionality, intrigue and an assertive flow. Needless to say, we are completely in awe.
The opus expands with cerebral sound design and a captivating Brit-rap delivery, with existential themes and zeitgeist cultural references. We love the flute riffs which add a spiritual element to the overarching subversive nature of the composition.
Speaking on the release, W1ZZY poignantly confesses, “The song [is] just about life and certain things the average urban kid would go through in London, ups, downs, goods, bads.” The sonic architecture of Keep The Change with it’s coin drop detailing really does bring this to life, and we appreciate W1ZZY‘s tenacity and raw authenticity.
W1ZZY tells us that his main influence us US rap with UK twist, which certainly comes to fruition with his high production sound. It is no surprise that the star has already been played on Capital Xtra and BBC Radio 1Xtra!
Keep The Change was recorded, and self-produced by W1ZZY in West London and also comes with a cinematic P.O.V. style music video, which manifests the narrative of the track perfectly! We love what W1ZZY is creating and the tangible reality that he showcases with his zeitgeist and introspective nature.
We have added Keep The Change to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to explore W1ZZY‘s wider discography, including his debut single, 6IX DEGREES, and his sophomore release, First Quarter.
