It’s widely known that we’re huge fans of The Pulltops, as evidenced by our recent spotlights on the optimistic and immersive, Make Me Smile, the anthemic and connected, With You, the enlightened and conscious, Wide Awake, and the intricate and inspiring, Better Life. When we heard that the talented creators were back with a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s iconic song Have You Ever Seen the Rain?, our curiosity was peaked, and we couldn’t wait to listen and share our feedback!
Setting the tone with astral guitar tones, immersive notes and padded drums, The Pulltops open Have You Ever Seen the Rain? with atmospheric vocals and the prophetic prose, “Someone told me long ago, there’s a calm before the storm, I know, it’s been coming for some time…”
We are immediately captivated by the vocal design, with cerebral echoes, coupled with super emotive performances that invite us to tap into an introspective, philosophical energy. Have You Ever Seen the Rain? is essentially about the life’s hardships, and going through difficult times. It uses weather events like rain, storms, and sunshine as symbols or metaphors for these moments.
The mood that The Pulltops manifest with their cover feels highly attuned to the message of the opus. We appreciate the intimacy that we experience, and the dramatic edge with a touch of melancholia. What really stands out is the power pop vocal design and the tangible high emotional quotient that Mark and Tom deliver, in essence making the song authentically their own.
The Pulltops are renowned for their diverse blend of rock music, spanning alternative, power pop, blues, and psychedelic rock. We learn that Have You Ever Seen The Rain? is featured on the duo’s EP Sight Lines, offering a dark, moody rendition of the classic Creedence Clearwater Revival.
We love what The Pulltops create with their sonic universe, and have added Have You Ever Seen The Rain? to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream their wider discography, including the entirety of Sight Lines!
