Establishing the mood with an ethereal and dimensional arpeggiated synth followed by an icy crash, expanding into a celestial energy with high octane dynamism, Hella Precious opens Ghosts with intrigue and a magnetic design.
The opus evolves with atmospheric, pitched vocals and a cosmic drum and bass adjacent mood, to take us on an introspective and poetic journey into the mind of Hella Precious. Speaking on the release of Ghosts, the talented rising artist from California confesses, “This is about the ‘ghosts’ that haunt us, and the healing that comes when we truly feel safe and connect with another human being.”
Hella Precious continues with charismatic depth, “It’s blue, pink, sparkly, with a touch of somber lovesickness. It has been a long time in the making and is a collaboration with on of my all time favorite producers, Joseph Hoskins, also known as Skeleton Ocean.”
We deeply connect with the celestial EDM vibe that Ghosts manifests, and we learn that both Hella Precious and Skeleton Ocean have influences in both pop and EDM which certainly comes through on the track. They cite Aurora, PinkPantheress, and Calvin Harris, as sonic appreciations, and we can also imagine that fans of Grimes would be able to connect with Ghosts.
Elaborating on the intention behind the release, Hella Precious tells us, “I hope this song serves as a ‘spark in the dark’ for anyone who has ever been afraid to be seen or loved. We all have our shadows, or ‘ghosts’, but there is something so special in the vulnerability that happens when we feel safe and loved by another person. I hope this song inspires you to heal, dance, and feel what you feel.”
We love the depth that Hella Precious creates with, and the cohesive and intricate tapestry of sound that both Hella Precious and Skeleton Ocean bring to life. We have added Ghosts to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to explore the wider discographies of both creators, and anticipate future releases!
