Drawing us in with a glistening, guitar soundscape with an astral frequency, Every Thing The Light Touches opens Animal with a high emotional quotient as he sings the prose, “I see you found your true love, means everything to me, your mother would be so proud of everything you’ve achieved…”
The opus expands with situational, metaphorical depth and an intricate piano performance with textured drums and an expansive strings arrangement, as we are taken on a cinematic and heart-wrenching trip with the emerging Irish talent.
We learn from Every Thing The Light Touches, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, writer and singer Danny Forde, that “Animal is a song about self-expression, going after the life you want, and the love between parent and child.” The intention of Animal is to “offer encouragement and inspiration to [one’s] beloved son, that the most valuable thing he can do is to be himself in front of the world.”
In addition to Danny Forde‘s magnetic presence, Animal also features Swedish jazz singer-songwriter Linnéa Lundgren, along with New York-based guitar virtuoso and singer Lau Noah, and Dylan Lynch (Soda Blonde, Little Green Cars) on drums. The song was mixed by Mike Cave (James Vincent McMorrow, Lewis Capaldi).
The harmonic and dimensional final output showcases nothing short of instrumental mastery, brimful with intention and poetic prowess. Listening to Animal is powerful and transformative experience. The composition has the ability to inspire and uplift us, igniting a sense of hope, motivation, and determination within the collective.
The poignant lyrics and uplifting melodies of Animal resonate deeply with us, allowing space for introspection, whilst encouraging us to embrace our true selves, follow our passions, and strive for our dreams. The song serves as a reminder of the importance of authenticity, urging us to break free from societal norms and expectations and to pursue a life that aligns with our values and aspirations.
Every Thing The Light Touches cites sonic peers including Elbow, Bon Iver, Crosby Stills & Nash, Damien Rice, and Nick Drake, although there is no doubt that Danny is manifesting a universe of his own. We have added Animal to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from the talented creator.
