By now, you will know that we are obsessed with FEAR OF MARKO, so when we heard that the rising alternative pop star was back with Teeth, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience! Drawing us in with a strummed guitar soundscape with cerebral nuances, FEAR OF MARKO opens Teeth with atmospheric vocals and charismatic depth with introspective, hard-hitting, situational prose, before a bold and immersive chorus takes us on a more subversive trip with a darker edge as the star sings, “I need fast cars and gasoline, I wanna dye my hair… I wanna fall back down and lose some teeth…”
We vibe with the genre expansive nature of the track, although there is still some timeless familiarity, tapping into a sense of nostalgia for rock fans to connect with. Speaking on the high-octane release, FEAR OF MARKO confesses, “Teeth is a song I wrote when I was in a really chaotic place, I felt like I had no idea what I was going to do with my future and everything just felt pointless.”
The talented creator continues, “It felt like the perfect introduction to myself as an artist. I think as an artist I usually steer towards the idea of escapism as someone who has never felt like they fit in anywhere.”
The raw authenticity that the star shares is tangible, and he cites Deftones, Nirvana, The Kid LAROI, Iann Dior, Teenage Wrist, WILLOW, and PinkPantheress as some of his sonic influences, although there is no doubt that FEAR OR MARKO is manifesting a sound of his own.
We have added Teeth to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream FEAR OF MARKO‘s wider discography, including Dizzy, Blood for Tears, and Funeral, and anticipate future releases, including the launch of his upcoming album!
