Drawing us in with a super immersive guitar performance and cosmic textures, deep dive species open Adventus with cinematic drama and intrigue. The opus expands with a subversive edge featuring a magnetic guitar riff, cerebral nuances and emotive drum work. Needless to say, we are in awe.
A meditative breakdown captivates us further with strummed guitars, intricate melodies and an overarching, awe-inspiring conclusion, leaving us yearning for more. The guitar performances in Adventus are characterized by their haunting melodies and an evocative atmosphere that contributes to the overall mood and aesthetic of the song.
In Adventus, the immersive guitars serve as a versatile and essential element, adding depth, emotion, and a sense of darkness to the sonic landscape, fused with hypnotic electronica. One of the key aspects of guitar performances in the dark wave adjacent composition is the use of effects and techniques to create a sense of otherworldliness and ethereal beauty, akin to the overarching underwater concept of deep dive species.
We learn that Adventus is composed and produced by Vadim Militsin and Sergey Popovich, and was mastered by Bill Sellar at Super Audio Mastering. The mesmerising accompanying music video was created by Segmentality. The track also marks the first new release since the band’s debut LP Aquaphilia. The band confess to creating with the intention to focus “more on emotions rather than experimentation”, and that Adventus represents the more “rocky” side of the band.
With reference to the visual, deep dive species tell us, “The video is a story of the interstellar traveller crash landing on a planet, populated by less developed civilization. Trying to navigate the rough world and bring some light to poor people the cosmonaut eventually becomes a messiah.”
We love the intentional nature of what deep dive species are creating, and have added Adventus to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream the band’s debut album, Aquaphilia.
