Won’t Say Rabbit take us on an introspective trip with philosophical new single, Just a Prisoner

Setting the tone with a dimensional, guitar soundscape with a captivating bassline and rolling drums, Won’t Say Rabbit opens Just a Prisoner with instrumental mastery, lyrical smarts and metaphorical constructs.

The opus expands with a timeless, immersive punk energy with engaging hooks, stunning instrumental interludes and a charismatic vocal performance with philosophical depth. We learn that for its message, Just A Prisoner taps into the concept of “a search for optimism and integrity in a cynical, crumbling world.”

When quizzed about the meaning of the song, the band confesses, “Just A Prisoner paints a vivid picture of modern existence on Earth, our ‘blue speck’.” They go on to tell us that the track is designed to resonate with “those who know life can be a lot better, but who are told that things ‘could be worse’.”

Just A Prisoner offers a poignant and introspective message that is not only cathartic but also deeply philosophical in its exploration of self-realization. The track invites us to reflect on our own struggles with cynicism, doubt, and disillusionment, but also the concept of toxic positivity.

The song serves as a mirror that reflects the harsh realities of a world in turmoil, while also offering a beacon of hope and resilience for those who dare to look within and seek a path towards self-realization and growth. By experiencing Just A Prisoner from a cathartic perspective, we are encouraged to confront our own inner conflicts, doubts, and fears, and to embrace the journey of trusting the universe.

The band tell us how they create with intention by saying, “Above all, [we] exude a palpable belief in the power of music. [Our] message to listeners is clear: music has the potential to change your mood, shift your perspective, and occasionally, transform your life.”

The trio consists of Brian on guitar (who also sketched the illustration above), whilst Tom slays on bass guitar and keyboards, and Beth shares her powerful and mesmerizing vocals. Drummers Frank, John, Billy, and Juan have contributed to the band’s sound over the years.

We have added Just a Prisoner to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Won’t Say Rabbit‘s wider discography, including Getcha, and George Orwell, and anticipate future releases from the talented creators.
