The opus expands with a fierce guitar soundscape and textured drums as Sophia Stephens conveys her intentional energy, expansive range, and poetic prowess. We are particularly enamoured by the middle eight, which takes on a stripped back energy with Sophia’s evocative vocals front and centre. The presence of the piano adds to the enigmatic vibe that the track exudes, before an anthemic and captivating rebuild. Speaking on the release, Sophia confesses, “The track is a warning about the dangers of loving something or someone with fervor.”
Fervor is a musical gem that pulsates with passion and emotion from start to finish. The song’s stripped-down production allows Sophia’s raw talent and authenticity to truly shine through, creating an intimate and unfiltered listening experience.
The emerging star’s passionate vocals convey a depth of feeling that is palpable, evoking a sense of vulnerability and honesty that is profound and moving. Fervor is a standout example of a song that wears its heart on its sleeve, inviting us to journey alongside Sophia Stephens, through a landscape of unfiltered emotional depth.
We learn that Sophia Stephens is a 17 year old singer-songwriter, who has already written more than three hundred songs and has her first album set to release this Summer. Fervor was written earlier this year after deciding she really liked the word and “wanted to encompass its meaning in a way that was dark but informative.”
The track was originally performed with just her guitar and vocals, however the rising talent enlisted the support of producer Trey Vittetoe to amplify the production based on the original guitar chords and melody. Fans of Florence + The Machine will be able to connect with Sophia’s sound, although there is no doubt that the rising talent is manifesting a universe of her own.
We love what Sophia Stephens is creating, and have added Fervor to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream her growing discography, including her EP, Remnantal, and anticipate future releases from the star.
