The opus expands into an alternative rock energy with nuances of grunge, emo and 60’s surf rock to take us on a relatable journey with self-realized intention. The soundscape showcases nothing short of instrumental mastery with progressive, yet timeless elements, and needless to say, we are mesmerized.
There is no doubt that Villain is perfect for an array of Hollywood synch deals, the vocal harmonies are transcendental, and the final moments leave us yearning for more. The emotional intelligence distilled into the songwriting feels fully authentic, and we can only imagine how epic this would be to experience live.
In addition to Nathan Waller, The Flying Beets features bass player David Cross and drummer Kenn Scott (who played Raphael in the originalĀ 1990s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film). The trio collectively bring a rather magical sentiment to life with their sound. Despite being a recently formed band, The Flying Beets exhibit a level of conscious maturity and philosophic depth with their music.
The band cite Nirvana and The Beatles as influences, which we feel come through in their hybrid sound, but there is absolutely no doubt that The Flying Beets are manifesting a universe of their very own.
We have added Villain to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we we continue to stream The Flying Beets‘ wider discography, including their debut single Maybe Baby, and sophomore release, Radio Song, and anticipate future releases from the talented trio.
