We previously featured No Named when they took us on an evocative trip with the immersive, Touch You Baby, so when we heard that the enigmatic, talented band had returned with Back Down!, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Kicking off with a timeless, guitar-driven energy, No Named open Back Down! with melodic depth and a captivating and ethereal soft-rock vocal. The tails of each line echo in to void, bringing to life a psychedelic energy for the piece.
Layered vocals mesmerise us further, and we are in awe of the warmth generated with the production. Epic guitar solos are interspersed with conscious prose, and we appreciate the cosmic nuances that remind us of William Orbit’s production.
Chord choices are designed to evoke maximum emotion, fusing perfectly with the eye-opening message of the song. Speaking on their collective artistry, the band confess, “In every guitar riff, bass line, drum beat, and vocal note, we capture the essence of everyday life, turning common experiences into powerful anthems that resonate with the souls of our listeners.”
They add with intentional depth, “Our repertoire explores the little things that, together, form the fabric of our existence. We believe the mundane deserves to be sung about because it’s in the mundane where we often find magic.”
With specific reference to the message of Back Down! itself, No Named tell us, “Back Down! is a thriller from start to finish, beginning with a passionate and surprising description of strange and unexplained events occurring in e-commerce processes, which reveal e-corruption, placing the issue on the table as a current and despicable scourge that has been part of society at all times. Thus, when corruption in the mentioned e-commerce processes is uncovered, the song changes, expressing disbelief, frustration, and powerlessness, due to the discovery of the deceit and the unwilling participation in a tainted process; what was believed to be part of the past. In the choruses, the song strongly rejects this discovered situation, expressing with pain and almost like a lament, the disgust and weariness that this situation causes, advocating for distancing from it and leaving it in oblivion, out of life and as a bad memory.”
We deeply appreciate the intentional nature that No Named create with, and have added Back Down! to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the band’s growing discography, and anticipate future releases from the conscious creators.
