Establishing the mood with whispered, ASMR-style Spanish prose, indifferentMonKeY open Total Love with a hint of subversion before Ellie Knowles repeats the opening hook, “Total love and devotion, yeah, yeah…” showcasing a fierce and assertive vocal.
The opus expands with a bright and dimensional beat to accompany Ellie as she shares her soul with ethereal nuance. We deeply connect with the layered harmonies, the astral moments and the intentional energy of the song.
There is introspective depth to what Total Love exudes. Ellie’s presence feels authentic and universally connected. We particularly love the lyric, “Jesus charges by the hour…”. There is no doubt that indifferentMonKeY are unapologetic in their mission and artistry – and needless to say, we are in awe.
The band cite influences including Tricky, Massive Attack, Billie Eilish, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, which we can absolutely feel come through in their sound, although indifferentMonKeY are certainly manifesting a sound unique to their own, and this time with a gospel twist.
It is no surprise that the band recently won “Best Band” at a live music award ceremony in London, and as last year’s winners headlined at the awards at the iconic Bedford in Bahlam, London. We have added Total Love to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we immerse ourselves in their film-noir performance visual that accompanies the track, and continue to stream indifferentMonKeY‘s album, Love and Peace!
