Establishing the mood with a glistening guitar soundscape and emotive vocal performance, Gary Dranow and The Manic Emotions open Dad with a sentimental nature and relatable prose.
The ode to one’s parent is profound – a stripped back and a fitting message for those of us with a connection with our fathers. The lyrics clearly come from a highly authentic place, and are brought to life with tangible charisma and a high emotional quotient.
The opus expands with astral vocal ad libs to take on a more ethereal vibe. The heartfelt opus captures the band’s fusion of soft rock and immersive storytelling. We also learn that Dad was inspired by a poignant letter written by Harold DeBlanc‘s son, Matthew, for Christmas. This song beautifully encapsulates the bond between parent and child, celebrating Harold’s wisdom, empathy, and strength.
Speaking on the release, Gary confesses, “Music is more than just notes and lyrics; it’s a medium to express the depth of human emotions and experiences. Dad, A Song for Harold is our tribute to the enduring power of fatherly love and the profound impact it has on shaping our lives.”
Featuring a lineup of talented individuals hailing from Australia and Ukraine, the band’s diverse influences and personal connections are evident in their music. The meticulously produced track is filled with raw depth, serving as a tribute to the special bond, whilst also highlighting the transformative nature of music.
We have added Dad to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Gary Dranow and The Manic Emotions‘ wider body of work, and await new singles from both the band, and Gary’s alternative project, Astralix!
