In addition to Kate Nash, Bimini, Macka B and P Money, and following the recent loss of Professor Benjamin Zephaniah (who was also scheduled to perform), Vegan Camp Out has announced a slew of new music artists for 2024.
The line up, pictured below, now also features NEO 10Y, Tally Spear, DARKO, Feldi, Wood & Nails, Grey, Freddie Joon, The Scumbags and more stars alongside speakers including Earthling Ed, Chris Packham, Gaz Oakley, Simon Amstell, Peter Egan, Nimai Delgado and Lucy Watson (see poster below for the full list!).
The festival, which has been voted the UK’s Best Vegan Event, which was established in 2016 has been going from strength to strength annually. In line with numerous events all over the world, Vegan Camp Out is not immune to complications, and recently issued a statement titled, The Event Industry’s In Trouble, written by VCO Founder, Jordan Martin:
In 2024 a festival needs more tickets sold just to break even/cover their costs than ever before. More and more events are shutting down which is so sad to see having been to festivals for the last 18 years. This is due to huge rising costs never seen before which continue to climb, meaning it’s evermore increasingly harder for festivals to stay afloat. And also due to decreased attendances across the board due to attendees struggling themselves.
Last year (2023) was good for us, but we desperately need to do that again to continue to sustain the event, after our huge loss in 2022.
One obvious solution is to increase ticket prices further (as many events are having to do) but if we can sell enough tickets over the next 2 weeks then we’re hopeful we won’t need to do that. We pride ourselves on purposely keeping our prices as low as we can to make it as affordable as possible for everyone who comes to VCO.
Tickets for Vegan Camp Out are available through their official ticket website, and more information can be found via the event’s Instagram feed.
A reminder that no one is free until the animals are free, speciesism is the root of all oppression, and animals deserve respect and freedom.
