We previously featured Andy Smythe for his refined and expressive single, Prodigal Son, so when we heard that the talented creator was back with Out of my Mind, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us in with an astral, atmospheric vocal and strummed guitar, expanding with a timeless, power-pop energy, Andy Smythe opens Out of my Mind with dimensionality and intentional, philosophical depth.
The opus expands with instrumental mastery, to take us on an emotive and thought-provoking trip with existential nuance, poetic prowess and tangible emotion.
Speaking on the release, the rising artist tells us, “Out of My Mind is a song about the cycle of life about finding your soul partner. It explores that conflict of making the right choice.”
Andy continues, “It is about being in your late twenties around the London landscape of gigs, parties and clubs and realising that ‘they were there all along’, they were always there in your subconscious.”
There is no doubt that fans of John Lennon and Paul McCartney will be able to connect with Andy Smythe‘s exquisite sound, created with producer Dave Palmer. The production of Out of My Mind is breathtaking, and we appreciate the soaring trumpet melodies and big brass sound featuring Hank Zorn, as well as the expansive energy created with the strings arrangement by composer Chris Payne.
It is also worth noting that Andy records and arranges his own songs at home and plays guitars, bass and piano. The stunning backing vocals are provided by guest vocalist, Chloe Payne.
Out of My Mind comes with an AI created video, with visual artist Gary Brady, to bring to life the energy of the song. We learn that Andy’s new album Poetry in Exile is out on March 1st and features thirteen songs that he’s meticulously composed and arranged. Whilst we await this release, we have added Out of My Mind to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TIMELESS playlist. whilst we continue to stream Andy Smythe‘s growing discography!
